Helloo there,
I'm back here with another Back-to-School inspired post (because school literally starts for me tomorrow)! This time, I'll be talking about a DIY that's different from my usual crafty DIY posts: how to get inspired every day with just a few simple things! I'll be sharing with you what has really helped me stay on track!
In the hustle and bustle of daily life (chores, homework, work, and everything else), it can be pretty hard to stay motivated and stay focused. I know especially, once school starts, it can be hard to get off Facebook and start on your homework and your chores! But don't worry, hopefully, this post will have everything you need to kickstart your day! :)

1. Inspiring/Motivating/Comforting Phone Wallpaper <-- This isn't actually my own phone, I just found this picture on Google. It's not a perfect representation of what I'm trying to say but it'll do :) I love to find wallpapers for my phone that have great quotes because I find them uplifting. I check my phone every morning and I love to see a positive message staring back at me when I'm unlocking the screen! You can find a wallpaper app for your phone and search the categories. There are generally things like "quotes" or "inspirational." You want to find a wallpaper (whether it's typography, which I really love, or a picture) that really speaks to you! |
2. Inspiration Board (Bulletin)
This photo here is actually my own inspiration board, which I got (I think) during last year's back-to-school (thought I could get organized with it)! This bulletin board (brand: Quartet) is approximately the size of two computer monitors (screens), and it sits beside a closet near my bed. You want to make sure you place it somewhere at eye-level and a space where you'll see it everyday. I've only pictured the bottom half here, because the top half just has a calendar which I use to keep important dates organized :)
Some people like to glue everything to a piece of bristol board, as their inspiration board but I prefer a bulletin board because you can always pin on more things!
Here's what I like to add to my bulletin board:
1. New Year Resolutions: Admittedly, I still haven't kept up with my 2014 New Year's resolutions but when I wrote them at the beginning of the year, I pinned them up (you'll see it in the picture: 2014) in hopes I would see it everyday and follow it. I just find that it's a good reminder to have them up there! I also keep other daily reminders about things I need to do on the board too.
2. Newspaper clippings: I love to read the newspaper and when I find a good article about food or lifestyle or anything interesting, I rip the page off and pin it on to my board! While cleaning my room recently, I found an article about yoga poses that help with jetlag and since I love to do yoga and I HATE jetlag (of course who likes it), I pinned it on! I actually pinned the article over some other things but basically underneath, I have other little inspirational sayings on little squares that I printed out!
3. Inspirational quotes or pictures: I found some great typography art (if you're not sure what typography is, it's basically fancy word lettering art-I'll have examples at the bottom of this post) that I resized in a Word document as little squares to pin. I have about four or five squares at the bottom half of my bulletin board, and they're all Doctor Seuss ("and when things start to happen, don't worry, don't stew, just go right along, you'll start happening too!") I love Doctor Seuss quotes because they have such a great message and they're really cute! :') I even have a Christmas themed one (from the Grinch) which I put up during the Holidays ("Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more!") Some of the other squares are hiding in the picture, underneath the newspaper clipping :) You can pin anything that inspires you!
4. Cute bulletin tacks/pins: This is an optional thing, but I like to buy cute bulletin tacks and pins to use. In the picture, you might be able to see that I have tacks and pins with ducks (imagine the mini plastic version of a rubber duck) and ladybugs on them. I just use them because they add a little bit of fun and I smile whenever I see them :')

3. Try something new/get out of your comfort zone
Make a list of things you've wanted to try out, but have always been too afraid/worried to. When you try new things, you might discover an inner passion, a new hobby, or simply something you admire! And if you make a mistake or you decide you don't like it, then let it be a learning experience! The important thing is, you won't know what truly motivates you or what you truly enjoy doing if you don't take a step out of your comfort zone and try something new!
A great website with various motivational quotes you can print out here: http://www.howtoblogman.com/2013/09/motivational-quotes.html
I hope this entry inspired you or helped/will help you in some way! Let me know in the comments what you think and what motivates/inspires you and what you do with the extra kickstart!
Thank you for reading! I hope you'll subscribe (you'll find it on the right) and I hope to see you back soon for my next post! (It will be out in a few days, as I mentioned at the beginning that school is starting tomorrow for me :))
