Hey guys!
Today's entry is going to be talking about something that I'm pretty sure everyone experiences, more than just once-in-a-while: stress. It's exam week for me, so of course I've been a little more stressed than usual. I thought I would share with you guys what I do when I'm stressed or anxious.
Now I don't believe I have anxiety; however, I have always been pretty anxious/nervous. I've been having migraines for a few years now and I always get really nervous when I'm outside because I think about all the things that could trigger a migraine :( If you suffer from headaches or just have a good imagination, you know what I'm talking about when I say it feels like someone is whacking you on the head full-force with a burning hot hammer. I also have auras before migraines, meaning these zig-zag bright spots appear before my vision (they make you feel nauseous). For the most part, I find Advil (Liquid-Fast for migraines) works well, as well as a lot of sleep! On top of that, I've had a few scares where I nearly fainted in the airport.
So anyway, basically this will just have a few things that I like to do when I'm feeling stressed or nervous. I'm not a professional so I'll include some links to websites that have professional help. When in doubt, visit your doctor or the closest walk-in clinic! These tips may not help stop an anxiety attack, or stop a headache, but they can help you relax and hopefully in the long run, make you a less anxious person! :)
Whatever situation you're in, I hope this post will help a little! Please subscribe for email updates, you'll find it in the sidebar with the blog categories if you enjoyed this (be my first subscriber ;w;) <3

1. Take a break, take a deep breath
Sometimes, all you need is some time alone to relax and get away from the situation you find stressful. Do an activity you enjoy, or just lie down and relax. Doing something continuously without rest will tire the body out. If you're in a public place and need to take a break, step outside for a moment or close your eyes and think about positive things! It's also important to take deep breathes, because it will help circulate the blood. When you're anxious, your breathing patterns are disrupted so remember: breath in, breath out, and continue! :)

2. Listen to soothing music
Shutting out your environment can be helpful to reduce stress. Listen to some music if you're worried while on the go (trains, buses, airplanes, etc.). While you can listen to your favourite song, I would suggest listening to some calming music, like nature sounds or slow lyrical classical music. You can find these on Youtube. Music can be especially helpful when you're studying or working under pressure!

3. Yoga/Meditation
Yoga and meditation are great ways to relax the mind and body. I like to do yoga a lot because it's very soothing and different poses have different purposes (some help you feel nurtured, some relieve pain in the back, etc.)

4. Write it out
It can be helpful to write out your frustrations when trying to relieve you stress. I wouldn't recommend putting it somewhere public or digital, because you never know who's going to see your rant. I suggest writing it down a piece of paper, and just ripping it up when you're done (get that satisfying feeling of letting go).

What to do?
If you're in a public place and you have a migraine, go somewhere quiet and not dangerous (into a building preferably, not out in the open). It would be best to call someone you know who can come pick you up and explain the situation to whoever is in the building/around you. I would definitely recommend carrying around medication (I carry around Advil) when you're going out because it's helpful.
If you see someone who is having a migraine or a anxiety attack, help them! This is a great video by Zoella on YouTube about anxiety and how to help:

Thank you for reading! I hope this helped you in some way. Remember to think positively every day, just smiling will help you feel happy! The optimist sees the donut and the pessimist sees the hole. Which one are you?
